Seed visits SocialDay 2023

We enjoyed SocialDay 2022 so much that we couldn't wait to go back again this year. So we sent  Sarah and Loopy along from our content creation team to get the skinny on what's hot and what's not in social right now.

So what is SocialDay?
SocialDay 2023 brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and professionals in the field of social media to share insights, strategies, and success stories. From virtual influencers to community engagement, the event covered a wide range of topics, providing attendees with valuable knowledge and actionable takeaways. So what did we learn?

Patrick from Soul Publishing shed light on the growing space for virtual influencers. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with brands that have similar data and demographic sets to ensure maximum engagement and reach. The success of virtual influencer Polar demonstrated the power of data analysis and strategic collaborations.

Key takeaway: When partnering with brands, focus on data-driven collaborations to reach new customers and improve engagement.

2. Efficient Workflows and Strategy Creation:

Miruna from Planable introduced their workflow system designed to enhance agency efficiency. The emphasis was on spending more time on planning and promotion rather than content creation alone. Creating a comprehensive strategy based on audience insights and problem-solving, mapping out channels, and leveraging team collaboration were key components for success.

Key takeaway: Allocate ample time for strategy creation, utilize workflow tools to streamline processes, and measure KPIs for continuous improvement.

3. Community Engagement and Adaptability:

London Dungeon's case study showcased the power of community engagement and adaptability. By tailoring content for different channels based on deep dive analytics, they achieved significant traction for their campaign. Their emphasis on trust, ownership, and utilizing reactive content on TikTok contributed to their success.

Key takeaway: Engage with your community, leverage channel-specific content, and don't be afraid to take risks and adapt based on data analysis.

4. Utilising Data and Tailoring Content for Success:

Aidan from the Met Office highlighted data analysis's importance in optimizing social media content. From identifying the best times to post to tailoring content to suit audience preferences, their success was driven by leveraging audience insights and experimentation. Taking risks and trialing new content strategies were also emphasized.

Key takeaway: Utilise data analytics to tailor content, experiment with different approaches, and adapt based on audience preferences.

5. Gen Z Content Creation and Sustainability:

Isabelle Quevilly discussed the significance of Gen Z content creators and their impact on social media. The critical factors for success on TikTok include humour, authenticity, and introducing new ideas. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of making businesses greener in the social media and advertising world, highlighting the resource Ad Netzero for reducing carbon footprint.

Key takeaway: Embrace authentic storytelling, leverage the power of Gen Z content creators, and strive for sustainability in social media practices.

6. Music Licensing and Social Media Content:
Rahmon from Loud Parade addressed the licensing issues surrounding the use of music in social media. Sonic branding's importance for larger brands was emphasized, along with caution regarding AI-generated remixes of existing music due to the lack of legislation in this area.

Key takeaway: Be mindful of music licensing when creating social media content and understand the legal implications of using AI tools for music creation.

7. Panel Discussion: The Now and Future of Social Media:

The panel discussion covered several valuable insights, including the importance of authenticity on TikTok, the effectiveness of long-form videos on TikTok, the significance of sticking to strategies that work for clients, and the power of AI as a tool for enhancing processes rather than replacing human roles.

Key takeaway: Stay authentic, leverage AI tools wisely, and focus on strategies that align with your clients' goals.
