An exciting month for Hereford’s food scene
September was a month of exciting new developments for Herefordshire’s food scene, as independent entrepreneurs continue to strive to put Herefordshire on the UK food and tourism map.
The Green Dragon Hotel, located in the heart of the city has undergone an extensive year-long refurbishment and finally opened the doors to its brand new restaurant, The Hereford. The new brasserie serves a mix of classic and modern dishes, placing a spotlight on local, seasonal and sustainable produce. The tired 1920’s panelled dining room has been transformed with a stylish and chic make-over. It now boasts comfortable booths, contemporary lighting and a simply gorgeous private dining room.
Along with the exciting new opening from Green Dragon Hotel, neighbours and fellow foodies The Bookshop, have also recently carried out an extensive refurb and expanded their restaurant into across the next-door property. The Bookshop now offers daily brunch, as well as the steak-led evening menu and award-winning Sunday lunch they are so well-known for.
We recently ventured out as a team to celebrate our birthdays, with a Friday night visit to The Green Dragon’s Offa Bar for cocktails, which was absolutely buzzing. A must-visit if you love old-world glamour and beautifully crafted cocktails. Later that night we visited The Bookshop, where the cured mackerel, truffle mac and cheese and fillet steak blew our socks off!
We’re absolutely delighted to support our local, independent restaurants and love seeing Hereford’s food scene continue to flourish! We wish both establishments the very best for their exciting futures ahead and we look forward to visiting again very soon!
