Last week Ann caught up with Gavin McLean who launched his latest venture Titan Brands in the midst of the pandemic last year.
Tell us a bit about your back story?
My background is as a Sales & Marketing Professional with experience in omnichannel; from bakery and chilled to frozen and ambient grocery. I work well with challenger brands and start-ups. I have a proven track record of successfully building both private label and emerging brands and launching exciting Innovative products in the UK and Ireland. I’m passionate about future brand creation, sustainable profitable growth for innovative FMCG businesses with a clear differentiation and value proposition.
Why did you set up Titan Brands?
I have seen a lot of good, great and indifferent approaches to running businesses and wanted to move away from a large corporate environment and work instead with food and drink entrepreneurs. These experiences led me to found Titan Brands, a company whose primary focus is to accelerate a brand's growth and sales strategy. Titan Brands works with start-up and challenger brands that require food and drink expertise to accelerate their business growth. Whether they are an early-stage founder at the beginning of their journey or an established brand with a desire to accelerate a channel entry or sales growth
How can brands engage with you?
Titan is very proud of its paternal approach to small start-ups and ‘challenger’ brands, knowing only too well how uncertain and stressful the early months can be. It’s for this reason that Titan Brands have always been happy to offer a 30 minute FREE ‘exploratory’ chats, in conjunction with free business assessments and diagnostics at a reduced hourly/day rate to any ‘early doors’ business operating off a ‘shoestring’ budget (until they’ve found their feet).

What are you most excited about in F&B retail this year?
I’m most excited about F&B in the growth of plant-based and health and wellness brands that help build gut health and immunity.
How are you making a difference?
The days of big, bland brands dominating the food & drinks aisles are long gone. Today we live in a world that celebrates the individual and targeted segments of society like never before, which means it’s no longer to stand still or tread water. The joy of small businesses run by ‘real’ people is the sheer lack of bureaucracy and indecision that stifles big business. With agile, well-connected agencies like Titan at your side, smaller, focused brands can always stay two/three steps ahead!
